Our workshop to enhance student writing skills for ages 12- 18, will be on Saturday, March 23rd.
Entitled Tomorrow’s Writers Today (TWT), the program is an extension of our 26-year-old summer program, Young Writers, held during our annual summer conference. Like Young Writers, TWT offers students an opportunity to work with prominent authors, poets, and journalists who will critique their work, share concepts, ideas and suggestions, as well as talk about the fields of professional writing, literature, poetry, journalism, and communications.
The workshop on Saturday, March 23rd, will be at the Barnstable Intermediate School in Hyannis, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students are asked to bring their own bag lunch, drinks, snacks, and flash drive. Two prominent authors will work in a small-group setting with students interested in fiction and non-fiction. Critically-acclaimed novelist Josh Delaney will teach fiction writing, and published author of children’s books and college texts, Dwight Ritter, will teach non-fiction writing.
Any student interested in writing may apply by filling out the attached application. Included with the application students are required to pay a $40 fee that helps pay for the operation of the program.
Students must also attach a brief writing sample between 500-1000 words with the application. Those who have already attended previous TWT workshops or the Cape Cod Writers Center’s summer Young Writers programs do not need to send in a writing sample but will need to complete an application.
