Calliope’s Craft Workshops:

Selecting the Euphonious and Cacophonus with Sheila Whitehouse on Saturday, February 23, 11am-2pm

Sound is the music of poetry.  This workshop will examine ways to enhance your song:  half-rhyme, assonance, consonance, and other rhetorical devices.  Come prepared to do some carefree exercises, just for the fun of it.

Sheila Whitehouse has published a collection of her poetry, Flint and Needle (Author House, 2006).  She founded the Guyer Barn Poets, a poetry workshop, in 1989, which still meets monthly.  She retired from a long career in teaching and continues studying and writing poetry, as well as taking painting workshops and classes.  Sheila holds an MFA in poetry from Vermont College and lives in Hyannis, MA.

The workshops will take place in the Lower Activity Room at the Library and will be held on four Saturdays between December 1, 2012 and March 23, 2013. The workshops will begin at 11:00 AM and end at 2:00 PM. The cost will be $25 per workshop or a package of all four for $90. Pre-registration is required. You can pre-register by e-mail at calliopepoetryreadings@verizon.net or by phone at 508 566-1090. After confirmation, send a check, made out to Calliope, P.O. Box 957 West Falmouth, MA  02574.
