In Why Do Bluebirds Hate Me?, bird enthusiast Mike O’Connor applies his deep knowledge of all things avian—and his hilarious sense of humor—to answer the burning and bizarre questions that every bird lover and amateur bird watcher has wondered about at one time or another but might be too embarrassed to ask: Do woodpeckers take baths? Is there such a thing as a wild parakeet? Do Northern Cardinals have anything to do with Catholic cardinals? Questions range from the practical to the peculiar.
Award-winning author Nancy Rubin Stuart’s latest book is Defiant Brides: The Untold Story of Two Revolutionary-Era Women and the Radical Men They Married. This double biography depicts the dramatic lives of the wives of Benedict Arnold and Henry Knox. One bride becomes a patriot, the other a spy. Meticulously researched and deftly told, the story of these dynamic, unconventional women will keep you reading.
Seasoned mystery writer Virginia Young’s I Call Your Name takes place in a former bed and breakfast on Martha’s Vineyard where Breeda Flynn lives with her deceased aunt’s cat. Along with the house, Breeda has inherited memories of incidents from sixteen years earlier, including the disappearance of her first love and the brutal death of his mother. When attractive TV producer Joe Pederson asks to live in the house while he writes a book about those events, Breeda hesitates but ultimately agrees to his request.
