The sold-out house for 50 members at the March 19 Cape Cod Writers Center’s Writers Night Out was one indication of the growing importance of self-publishing. As usual, the meeting took place at Uno’s Chicago Grille on Route 132 in Hyannis, MA.
The second and still more exciting symbol were the comments from the panel itself. The panel was moderated by CCWC member Dean Coe, who initially contacted the CCWC about the concept.
The panel included self-published authors K.R. Conway, Shirley Vogel, Bob Bucchianeri and Barbara Struna, the last whose book was published by a hybrid publisher — part traditional and part-self-published.
Each member spoke about the positive and negative aspects of self-publishing, as well as imparting valuable advice to those who are considering that publication route. CCWC members were so excited by all they learned that they gave the panel a standing ovation.
Onward and upward to more publications!
