Last night, a wonderful group of CCWC members and supporters gathered for fellowship, pizza, and poetry at UNOs restaurant in Hyannis for our monthly Writers Night Out. In honor of National Poetry Month, our speakers were two fine poets: Lawrence Kessenich and Molly Lynn Watt, whose words warmed us on a chilly spring evening.
Lawrence kicked off the evening’s presentation, reading a series of luminous poems that evoked the changing seasons and a strong sense of place, including places on Cape Cod. Molly’s selected poems, based on her work in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, told of a harrowing time when her personal life intersected with history.
Members of the audience were enthralled by both poets and eager to speak with them afterwards and have books signed. Thank you, Lawrence and Molly, for a delightful evening filled with warmth and wisdom!
