wnba logoTake a look at these announcements and upcoming events from our friends at the Boston chapter of the Women’s National Book Association:

  • Last month we sent four of our member-authors to the Massachusetts Librarians Association Conference to discuss ways to connect writers with reading groups. Nearly seventy librarians heard our representatives discuss their books and how to best facilitate the author-book club connection. If you have a book out and would like to be on our list of authors available to meet or Skype with book groups, please contact Anne Ipsen: or
  • Wednesday June 4th, 6:30pm we hope to see you at our final bash before the summer holiday: The Annual Open Meeting and Celebration of Summer Reading will be held at Newtonville Books in Newton Center, right near the Green Line T stop. Come let us know what you’ve been reading and writing–and hear about great new books from the Newtonville staff.  We’ll also be voting in our new Board members and presenting the inaugural Dorothy O’Connor Award to author Grace Talusan. Free and open to the public, with delicious food donated by Whole Foods–so bring a friend!
  • Saturday June 14th the members-only Reading Group will meet to discuss The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro. For more information please contact Cynthia Biron at
  • Saturday June 28th, 11a.m. please join us for A Conversation with Literary Agent Ann Collette. Co-sponsored by the National Writers Union, this event is free, open to the public, and will take place at the Coolidge Branch Library, 31 Pleasant St. Coolidge Corner, Brookline, convenient to the Green Line T stop:

Also this month, we’re delighted to be sending members Nancy Rubin Stuart and Jessica Keener to represent us at the annual WNBA National Meeting. To participate on a national level, consider volunteering for our chapter and taking advantage of travel perks such as this one; our current Treasurer is overdue to be replaced and will gladly show the ropes to a new volunteer–and those who prefer job-sharing are welcome. Participation on the board is fun and rewarding! Contact
