Young Writer's Workshops
Through special funding, the CCWC has hosted the Young Writers Program, a low-cost creative writing program for students ages 12-17 from the schools of Cape Cod and southern New England. While selected on a competitive basis, students unable to pay are given a tuition-free scholarship.

To have an application mailed to you, please E-mail us writers@capecodwriterscenter.org Below are photos of the faculty who attended the Young Writers Program from August 15-20, 2010 Our faculty were prominent Cape Cod writers, author Theresa Barbo, author/columnist Jim Coogan, and poet/ professor, Sheila McGuinness. Theresa Barbo has authored six nonfiction books on American history, including Nantucket Sound: A Maritime History and The Pendleton Disaster off Cape Cod. The founding director of the Cape Cod Maritime History Symposium, Theresa often lectures before civic and academic audiences and has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Sheila Sinead McGuinness has taught poetry writing at the University of Montana and Cape Cod Community College. Named a Poetry Fellow by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2002, she also won an Academy of American Poets award and has edited the literary journal CutBank. Her poetry appears in many journals. Jim Coogan is the author of seven books about Cape Cod. His Sail Away Ladies won the 2004 U.S. Maritime Literature Award for an independent publisher. Retired after almost 30 years as a high school teacher, he is a regular columnist for the Cape Cod Times daily newspaper. Prose Faculty |
