Young Writer’s Workshops
The CCWC has hosted the Young Writers Program, a creative writing program for students ages 12-17 from the schools of Cape Cod and southern New England, during the week of our Annual Conference. While selected on a competitive basis, students unable to pay are given a tuition-free scholarship.

Applications for the 2012 Young Writers Workshop will be sent to Cape Cod schools, former students and all interested applicants in the spring. The workshop will take place August 6-10 at the Barnstable Intermediate School. Click below for an application ApplicationFormYoungWritersProgramSummer201 Our faculty will be author/professor Luke Salisbury, poet/ professor Sheila McGuinnessauthor, and author Robin F. Brancato. Luke Salisbury is the author of three works of fiction, The Cleveland Indian, Blue Eden, and Hollywood & Sunset which was selected as Book of the Year (Fiction 2006) by Online Review of Books & Current Affairs, and won Best Historical Fiction 2006 from USABookNews. The Chicago Tribune named Luke’s The Answer Is Baseball the best baseball book of 1989.
Sheila Sinead McGuinness has taught poetry writing at the University of Montana and Cape Cod Community College. Named a Poetry Fellow by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2002, she also won an Academy of American Poets award and has edited the literary journal CutBank. Her poetry appears in many journals.
Robin F. Brancato is the author of eight young adult books published by Alfred A. Knopf and two books in the nonfiction series It Happened to Me published by Scarecrow Press. She has taught writing on both high school and college levels and is a member of the Authors Guild, Writers Guild East, and PEN International.
