10 AM-12:30 PM   Strategize for Publication Success    Virginia Pye  Instructor

Succeeding as a writer isn’t easy and rejection is rampant. In this seminar, we will articulate our goals, create concrete paths toward achieving them and discuss best strategies at each stage of writing: when to share drafts and with whom; how to set up a reliable system for magazine submissions; how to strategize to obtain a literary agent and how to write a concise cover letter. Additional topics include writer’s colonies, conferences, fellowships and more. These and other  suggestions help establish our professional writing practices, increasing our chances for success even before our first publication.

1-3:30 PM   How To Present on Zoom   C. L. Fornari  Instructor

Often unpredictable social, political and health events provide us with opportunities, and the pandemic is just such a situation. Learn how you might use Zoom to reach book groups, libraries, and businesses. Hear about how to make a virtual presentation compelling, and how to market yourself as a virtual presenter.
