In honor of April’s Poetry Month, Ben Berman will discuss how to use imagery for symbolic purposes and how imagery can develop the psychological landscape of your poem’s speaker or story’s characters. You will leave this session with a new appreciation for how imagery works and specific tools and techniques to write vivid, surprising, and evocative images in your poetry and prose.

Ben Berman is the author of three books of poems and the forthcoming book of essays, Writing While Parenting. His books have won the Peace Corps Award for Best Book of Poetry, have twice been shortlisted for the Massachusetts Book Awards, and have received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly.
