January 29, 2013 - CCWC Founder Marion Vuilleumier passes away at 94

20 Feb 2026 11:59 AM | Paul H. Raymer (Administrator)

It is with profound sorrow that we mourn Marion Rawson Vuilleumier, founder and director of the Cape Cod Writers Center, who passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the age of 94. Mrs. Vuilleumier guided the organization from its modest beginnings in 1963 into a nationally- acclaimed literary organization. Mrs. Vuilleumier’s foresight, determination and guidance inspired hundreds of aspiring and published writers and greatly enhanced the artistic community of Cape Cod.

In 2010 the Cape Cod Writers Center honored Mrs. Vuilleumier by establishing annual scholarships for school and college students to attend our summer conferences. We at the Writers Center will always remember her guiding vision.

The Cape Cod Writers Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
